Life Fellowship

About Us

History

Life Fellowship is a growing multi-ethnic church in the city of George, South Africa. Beginning in 2017, a small group of families began home-based meetings every other Sunday in Denneoord. In February 2019, Life Fellowship began meeting every Sunday in various homes in Denneoord, Heather Park, and Heatherlands. On March 1, 2020, Life Fellowship started meeting at the Inspire George Ministry Centre at 76 Cradock Street. Rooted in orthodox biblical doctrine and Baptist practice, Life Fellowship seeks to worship the Lord “in spirit and truth” (John 4:23), faithfully preaching and teaching the Word of God so that “we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 2:28).

Mission

We believe that the mission of Life Fellowship is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and by gathering together on a weekly basis to be instructed in His Word so that we would worship and obey Jesus now and in eternity to the glory of God the Father.

Leadership

Life Fellowship Church is in the process of identifying and establishing a plurality of elders to shepherd the church and a number of deacons to serve in the church. Currently, Life Fellowship is being led by a team of church planting missionaries.

What we Believe

Use the table below to learn what we believe and teach. Click to expand.

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is fully inspired and without error in the original writings. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to man, and therefore, are the final authority for faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit– who are equal in being, nature, power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, and died as a substitute for sinners. Today, He is alive and seated at the right hand of His Father interceding on our behalf.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is convicting the world of its sin and guilt. He regenerates sinners, and progressively transforms them as genuine believers more and more into the image of Jesus. The Holy Spirit also empowers believers for Christian witness and service and gives gifts to His children for the building up of the body of Christ, the church.

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death. As a result, all are separated from God by their sin and are hopeless apart from the salvation found in Christ alone.

We believe that salvation is a free gift that comes only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Anyone who turns from their sin (repentance) and trusts in Jesus Christ and His death on their behalf (believes) receives forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.

We believe in the personal, physical, pre-tribulational and premillennial return of Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, which will be at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service, and energetic mission.

We believe that all true believers in Jesus will spend eternity with Him in the new creation and those who die without faith in Christ will endure eternal punishment in the lake of fire.

We believe the church is designed by God to be a holy, unified body of born again, baptized believers whose calling is to make known the mystery and message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We recognize baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as the Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age.

We believe that God created and defined marriage as a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman and that any deviation from God’s design does not constitute a true marriage relationship. The marriage relationship is designed by God to reflect the covenantal relationship between Jesus and the Church.

We believe that God created Adam and Eve, the first human beings, in his image and equal before God, and distinct as male and female. The divinely ordained differences between male and female reflect God’s original creative design and are meant for human good and flourishing. The differences between male and female reproductive structures are intrinsic to God’s design for self-conception as male or female.

Life Fellowship Church Covenant

Because God’s grace has led us to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give ourselves fully to Him, and since we have been baptized upon our profession of faith in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His grace, renew our covenant with each other.

We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

We will walk together in brotherly love, exercise affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully admonish and exhort one another as occasion may require.

We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others.

We will endeavor to disciple our families in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example, seek the salvation of our family and friends.

We will rejoice at each other’s happiness and seek with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows.

We will seek to encourage, exhort, and admonish each other as the occasion requires. When necessary, we will practice corrective discipline for the purpose of restoring our fellow brother or sister in their relationship with God and their fellowship with the church body.

We will strive to live carefully in the world, turning from godless living and sinful pleasures, and remember that, since we have been crucified with Christ and raised again from spiritual death, there is now on us a special responsibility to lead a new and holy life.

We will work together for the continuance of a faithful gospel ministry in this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines.  We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with another church body where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.  Amen.
